How easy is it for an armed person to take out a shooter?

So easy they give soldiers a Medal of Honor for it. I thought about this hearing VP Biden being so humbled by being with 25 MofH winners. Trained, outstandingly able to think under fire, and selfless beyond most of us. The idea that any gun carrier will have those qualities, plus, as most honorees claim, a bit of luck, is ludicrous.

They are extraordinary, and are honored as such.

Takes a ton of training and practice to get over the almost automatic reflex of self-preservation to flee.

Soldiers do not get the MOH for shooting an enemy. Not even close.

Per http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medal_of_Honor

Public Law 88-77, July 25, 1963: The requirements for the Medal of Honor were standardized among all the services, requiring that a recipient had "distinguished himself conspicuously by gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty."[62] Thus, the act removed the loophole allowing non-combat awards to Navy personnel. The act also clarified that the act of valor must occur during one of three circumstances:[63]

While engaged in action against an enemy of the United States
While engaged in military operations involving conflict with an opposing foreign force.
While serving with friendly foreign forces engaged in an armed conflict against an opposing armed force in which the United States is not a belligerent party.[64][65]

New Life Church shooting
Location Colorado Springs, Colorado, United States
Date Sunday, December 9, 2007
Attack type Shooting spree
Weapon(s) 1 Bushmaster XM15 .223-caliber rifle, 1 Beretta .40-caliber handgun, 1 Springfield Armory 9mm pistol, and over 1,000 rounds of ammunition
Deaths 3 (including the perpetrator)
Injured 3

On Sunday, December 9, 2007, at about 1 p.m. Murray, armed with a semi-automatic rifle and two pistols, entered the foyer of the New Life Church in Colorado Springs and fatally shot two and wounded three others before himself being shot and wounded by Jeanne Assam, a former sworn Minneapolis police officer and a church member acting as security.

At about 30 minutes after the 11 a.m. service had ended at New Life Church, Murray opened fire in the church parking lot shooting the Works family and Judy Purcell, 40. Murray then entered the building's main foyer where he shot Larry Bourbonnais, 59, hitting him in the forearm. At this point, Assam opened fire on Murray with her personally owned concealed weapon. Police say that after suffering multiple hits from Assam's gun, Murray fatally shot himself.

The pastor of the church stated that Assam shot Murray before he entered 50 feet (15 m) inside the building, after she encountered him in the hallway, and that Assam probably saved "over 100 lives."
