Says GOP Looked Like Weenies During Clintons Benghazi Hearings
By Ben Armbruster on Jan 24, 2013 at 10:17 am
Secretary of State Hilary Clinton forcefully pushed back against Republican theatrics during yesterday Capitol Hill hearings on the Benghazi attacks, compelling conservatives and right-wing media to predictably demonize her.
But one right-wing pundit saw it a bit differently. Fox News military analyst Lt. Col. Ralph Peters (ret.) who has certainly not been known for his affection for progressives and liberalism praised Clintons performance. I came away with deeper respect for Hillary Clintons bureaucratic lawyerly brilliance, Peters said. I mean she was just tough and good and the Republicans looked like weenies:
PETERS: Hillary mops floor with congressmen and senators. She was as James Rosen pointed out, she was prepared. She had it down. She had answers anticipatory answers ready.
And the congressmen and senators didnt do their homework. They made speeches again as James Rosen pointed out. They their questions were ill focused. They went down the red herring road with Susan Rice as you pointed out.

(253 posts)while he characterizes the Republicans correctly he still believes that there is something to "focus" on here. The bottom line is there is nothing to focus on and they are trying to draw this out until it seems like there is substance. The have failed and they should just slink away with tails between their legs.

(386 posts)Then how does he explain his novel Red Army, a book quite sympathetic to a successful Soviet invasion of what was then West Germany?

And that proves he is a commie sympathizer and so must be a liberal?...you do know that novels are fiction don't you?

(386 posts)And I am merely suggesting that, if Mr Peters wishes to posture as a rightist FOX commentator, he might wish to explain the following: http://www.allreaders.com/topics/info_13964.asp

(18,998 posts)I will edit it.
But you present a book review as your proof?...Really?
Is it because of this?
"The real achievement of this novel is how Peters manage to portray the enemy as believable, fully fleshed out human individuals"
Again is that because he is liberal?...and a conservative would never do that?....well you might be right.

(5,756 posts)McCain and Rand Paul most probably helped add a few points to Hilary's approval rating given their attempted hatchet job speeches before their lame questions. I didn't have the stomach to watch the House committee hearing after having watched the Senate. So I don't know who on that committee probably made a total ass out of themselves like McCain and Rand Paul.
The best thing the Republicans could do for themselves now on this issue is to declare congressional hearings, etc. done. There is no there, there on this issue. They didn't ask any questions to bring to light any new information and I didn't hear any new information being imparted.
McCain just proved he's still bitter and Rand Paul just displayed what a smarmy little bastard he is. If KY returns him to the Senate in 2014 they should be ashamed.
Republicans are just making themselves more and more unpopular with witch hunts like this.

(64,979 posts)from the reactions of most RW pundits, their performance has been well-received by their target audience. Most of them (Rand Paul excluded) are not aiming at a national election, so keeping their base happing is all they care about. Rand Paul is too stupid to realize that his behavior is not the sort of thing that will win him a wide following in a national election.
