Well here's some GREAT news:
http://thenewcivilrightsmovement.com/michele-bachmann-and-rick-perry-have-almost-no-hope-of-getting-re-elected/politics/2012/01/26/33683
Former Republican presidential candidates Michele Bachmann and Rick Perry not only did so poorly on the campaign trail that they had to quit (suspend) their campaigns, but voters in their respective states were paying attention, and now, both Bachmann and Perry are polling so poorly that they have almost no hope of getting re-elected.
Michele Bachmann, as a U.S. Representative, faces election every two years. Voters in her home state of Minnesota now brand her as all but un-electable, with a majority, 57%, believing Bachmann should not run for re-election. Public Policy Polling, after a poll released just a few days ago, labels Bachmann unpopular, stating the anti-gay, anti-abortion theocrat would have a hard time getting elected to statewide office in the future.
Texas Governor Rick Perry, also an anti-gay, anti-abortion theocrat, is now polling worse than the man he was trying to beat, President Barack Obama.
His image has slipped, with 37 percent saying they have a less favorable view of him following the campaign, and 45 percent saying that his run has hurt the states image, the Dallas Morning News reports.

(11,359 posts)... (if she doesn't mess up too badly) if she decides to run for Senate, none of this campaign will be remembered.
I thought that odd. While I know little about statewide politics in Minnesota, I do get the sense she would have quite an uphill battle to become a Senator, even if she hadn't gone on this presidential adventure.
As for her house seat, it's pretty tough to unseat incumbents, so I'd bet she can hold on to that for the foreseeable future.

(37,540 posts)This was a vanity candidacy from the get-go. The only thing she accomplished was humiliating herself (and the voters of her district) with her ridiculous campaign. If I'm a voter in her district, I wouldn't reward her ego with another term. Maybe get someone in Congress who can do more than bark at the moon?
What can you say about Perry....he's proven himself to be a clown in cowboy boots.

(18,623 posts)I can see a quarter or even a third, but four out of ten is a consensus in my opinion. You have to figure another double digit percentage can either take him or leave him, and that leaves a minority of positive support.
Frankly, I agree that he reflects poorly on the voters who elected him.
I can't talk too critically though, I'm from Ohio. LOL

(2,928 posts)Heaven knows, as a Minnesotan, I would like this to be true.
But the quoted sentence makes it clear that this is not from an actual news source.
I'll wait for confirmation elsewhere.

(15,953 posts)I don't know how? After Dubya the image of Texas was pretty well shot anyway. Perry didn't hurt it so much as confirm it.

(8,153 posts)You are using logic and reason to explain why these slack-jawed open-mouth breathers will not be reelected.
Never underestimate the stupidity of American voters.
All Perry has to do is mumble some shit about Jesus, flash a crooked grin and most Texas voters will melt. Run a bunch of ads showing him loving some non-aborted white baby and cuttin' taxes down on the ranch. Tell everyone of the socialist/liberal threat, have a few prayer rallies and that man will be worshipped.

(23,278 posts)I worked on Bill White's campaign in 2010. he would have made such a difference in Texas...the child of two teachers,labor-friendly,education-friendly,healthcare oriented.Texans screwed themselves royally when they re-elected Perry.
We just have to keep up the fight.I'm focusing on the 2012 senate race.

If he decides to run again, he will probably win again. I wonder, though, if he may not be getting tired of it?

(5,065 posts)But I can't believe he's been elected so many times already. We pay $9000 to rent him an apartment because the governor's mansion burned down, and now he's drawing retirement AND his salary. Governor Goodhair, Molly Ivins called him. His only claim to quality.

(146,282 posts)She has only won elections in a very conservative district. Redistricting this year may put her place of residence in MN CD-4, where she will face a very popular progressive Congresswoman, Betty McCollum. The boundaries are not official yet, and won't be until late February, but that's the expectation by many who are following the redistricting. Bachmann is not popular with MN Republicans, either, except in her old district, which will probably be broken up.
