Bad news: House passed 3-mos poison pill tied to Ryan budget to end Medicare guarantee. Good news: Senate action to be tied to Murray budget

Murray on Ryan Budget: Ending the Medicare Guarantee to Pay for Tax Cuts for the Rich Highlights Republicans' Upside-Down Priorities

(Mar 20 2012) – Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) released the following statement after House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan unveiled the Republican budget.

“This budget highlights the upside-down priorities of Republicans. At a time when older and middle-class Americans are struggling to get by, this budget would end the Medicare guarantee for seniors in order to guarantee even more tax cuts for the rich. This plan is not only out-of-touch with reality, it would be damaging to our fragile economic recovery.

“Americans overwhelmingly agree that solving our budget crisis will take a balanced approach that strengthens Medicare and calls on the wealthiest Americans to pay their fair share. Until Republicans come to that realization, and join with Democrats in a balanced, bipartisan approach, they will continue to be playing political games.”

We can't trust a single thing that comes out of the House. There are a lot of devious assholes in that chamber.

Start with the DoD budget.

Unaccounted and unaudited until 2017 per GAO.

It's time to cut the entire budget off to 1% to get them to account for every single damn dime.

Then DoD get a permanent 5% slice of the total budget, anything exceeding over them requires the authorization of not only the President, but the entire Congress AND the voters itself. And each dollar has to be justified. The MIC ends here and now.

The Department of Defense has not justified their 60% share of the total budget. Not one cent.

It's time to pare it down to 5% and let them get their accounting done fast.

But we all know it won't be done with these neanderthals in power in the House.
