"Quinn signs sex-abuse education mandate"

On Thursday, Quinn signed "Erin's Law" at the Children's Advocacy Center of North and Northwest Cook County in Hoffman Estates. That's where, 14 years ago, a then-13-year-old Erin Merryn first spoke up about sexual abuse she had endured.

"You do not know how joyous this is for me, how hard I've worked for this," Merryn said of the law, which extends state-mandated sexual abuse and assault awareness and prevention efforts to elementary and middle schools. Previously, only high schools were required to teach it.

This guy continues to impress me. I'm ashamed to say that I wasn't 100% behind him. He's a lot more soft-spoken than what we were used to.

Sure as hell better than what I'm stuck with in Arizona.

1. This is so important

It raises awareness and kids who are afraid to tell will feel support. Violators always threaten kids with awful things if they tell, kids will learn that they can tell. This is huge, let's hope this grows.

Sorry about AZ, though it is the GOP that should be apologizing.
