"Well, the main thing is I just wanted to have a chance to publicly say thank you, because I think Hillary will go down as one of the finest secretaries of state we've had," he said during the sitdown with "60 Minutes." "It has been a great collaboration over the last four years.
"I'm going to miss her, wish she was sticking around but she has logged in so many miles I can't begrudge her wanting to take it easy for a little bit," he said. "But I want the country to appreciate what an extraordinary role she's played during the course of my administration. A lot of the successes we've had internationally have been because of her hard work."
While it appeared rather like an endorsement for Clinton's possible political aspirations, potentially a future presidential run, he did not explicitly say so in the clip broadcast Friday on the "CBS Evening News." The rest of the interview is scheduled to air during "60 Minutes" on Sunday."One of the things that I say to people, because I think it helps them understand, I say look, in politics and in democracy, sometimes you win elections and sometimes you lose elections. And I worked very hard but I lost," she said. "And then President Obama asked me to be secretary of state and I said yes.
"And why did he ask me and why did I say yes? Because we both love our country."
So, I guess she's running?

And let's face it, it's Hillary's if she wants it, the whole thing is hers if she wants it.
Obama will tell Biden to stand down.

(17,342 posts)Don't laugh. If I had posted here on January 25th, 2005 that the Dem's nominee would be Barak Obama, everybody here would have chorused "Who??"
Same thing will happen this time around. It'll be someone who's not even on the radar screen.

(36,437 posts)You might be right, but it's a different dynamic. I really don't see anything standing in the way of Clinton getting the nod if she wants it.

Doesn't matter whether he 'likes' guests or not; he generally can't keep himself from interrupting.

(5,166 posts)I totally understand Hillary wanting to retire.
She's been there, done that.
She's served her husband and family; she's served her nation in a most extraordinary way.
Not that she won't be active and contribute.
But, she should be able to pick and choose the time and place.

(5,166 posts)Prez. Obama is ineligible to be the VP because he is ineligible to be Prez another term. The person who is vice president must be eligible to be President; having been elected President two times, he is now ineligible for another term as President.

I like Vice President Biden, but the years he has spent cultivating his "lovable goof" personna work against him.
I wouldn't mind seeing Senator Kerry take another run at it, but that rarely happens.
