http://www.komonews.com/news/local/Councilman-walks-out-of-meeting--188298651.html
The City of Oak Harbor is getting national attention after a recent video posted to YouTube shows a city councilmember walking out in the middle of a meeting when he learned a resident was carrying a concealed weapon inside city chambers.
Mayor Scott Dudley says within the last week his inbox and voicemail have been inundated with hundreds of messages from people around the country in support of his decision to apologize for Councilmember Rick Almberg's actions during the Jan. 15 city council meeting.
"Right now, as we speak, I have well over 300 emails all from people who felt compelled to reach out and say, 'Thank you for standing up and defending this disabled vet,'" Dudley said.
I have emailed Mr Almberg and thanked him for his courage...would you do the same thing...

(13,685 posts)Why are you avoiding it and attacking someone who understands that people with guns are best avoided. So why are you scared of answering the simple question? Who was he planning on shooting?
ProgressiveProfessor
(22,144 posts)He is permitted to carry and chooses to carry. No further explanation is needed.

(13,685 posts)People with guns are fucking dangerous people. Period.
People with guns should be made to wear markings so that we know to keep them away from peaceful members of society. Better yet, make all guns give off a sound like a fire alarm whenever the gun is within a thousand yards of anyone but the owner.
That's our answer: Gun alarms. You get the right to bear arms and everyone else gets to know you are dangerous and should be avoided.
ProgressiveProfessor
(22,144 posts)sounds familiar. Where have we seen that before?
RobertEarl
(13,685 posts)Yes, you would be avoided by peaceful people. Does that bother you?

(13,685 posts)Twisted thinking?
Like i was saying, I don't fear you. But if you were a two year old and you had a gun, then I'd fear you. Well, not you but the gun.
Why is it that so many gun-slingers here just don't understand that without your guns, you're cool. And yes, when you have a gun, the fear is a wise emotion. What is so hard to grok about that?

I would much rather have CCW with some type of control or just make it illegal so we have no control or checks. People will still carry.
RobertEarl
(13,685 posts)Forget marking the owners. Mark the guns. Better yet, make the bullets radioactive and let a tax on guns pay for Geiger counters for everyone so that we can tell who has bullets on their person.
Set up spots where many people pass and whenever a radioactive bullet sets of the alarm people can follow the carrier and have the cops check them out before they do something stupid.

Your post is disgusting and you should delete it.
RobertEarl
(13,685 posts)Not racial, not religious (except gun nuts do have their own religion, eh?)
But forget that. What kills people are bullets. So we make bullets be radioactive and issue Geiger counters so we can track the bullets around and tell people: Stan away from the bullets!
I like it! Empty guns are safe. It's the bullets that we have to beware.
You have a problem with the public being made aware of dangerous deadly bullets?

(4,062 posts)One of the biggest problem with guns is that their owners are often times self-deluded into thinking that their death-dealing toys have magically made them more relevant. For lack of a better name I propose that we call this the "man card" effect. Both this vet and the thug in my photo *want* people to associate them with their gun -- what, are you seriously going to argue with them when they have the power to coerce you into obeying them? That, of course, is the problem.

No one can read another's thoughts, but an armed man has the potential to kill many people and it is that potential that makes the situation an unknown.
A wise person avoids potentially dangerous situations.

(13,685 posts)You should love my idea about gun alarms then. Let the world know how proud (but full of fear) that you are that you are packing heat. "Look at me", you could tell everyone near you: "I'm dangerous and can shoot you if I want."
Why hide it? Sound off! Don't be afraid to tell the world. You have the right to be more dangerous than anyone else!

(16,399 posts)How many stories have we read of "responsible gun owners" who blow their head or someone else's off while doing innocuous things (which of course the Gungeon types run in to analyze and break down why those people "are not the norm" . How the fuck am I supposed to know that the guy with a concealed carry permit isn't going to do something stupid that causes me to get fucking blown away while I'm sitting listening at a town council meeting. And be fucking dead while the asshole lives on, filing his reports with the NRA and whomever else will defend him, shrugging his shoulders claiming "It was just an accident, I did nothing wrong, such is the price people have to pay for MAAAAHH RIIIOTS".

(3,419 posts)Earl and your other brother Earl. You can never be taken seriously when you say anyone with a carry conceal license wants to just kill people.
That is ridiculous and you know it.
You should try for one.
Maybe you won't pass and that way when you meet one of us you will know we have been law abiding citizens all of our lives and we are not the ones to be in fear of. Stop your hate it will get you nowhere.
And as for my name I am a Vikings fan that's all.
RobertEarl
(13,685 posts)Why do you make up bullshit like that? Because you are scared to have an honest debate?
I know plenty of 'you'. And when 'you' have a gun 'you' are dangerous. And when we have gun alarms, the worst of 'you' - the criminal minded and half insane, will be giving us a warning. What, you don't want us to know the criminal minded and half insane are packing heat?
Really, why coddle the criminals like you want? Just because all of you are dangerous and you don't want to be seen as being just like the criminals? Why do you want the criminal gun packers to be hidden?
Can you answer anything without making up bullshit?
Berserker
(3,419 posts)You said that.
And I think you are nuts by your posts.

RobertEarl
(13,685 posts)You have nothing to fear from me. But I do have lots to fear of the gun nuts.
Sorry to have made it so all you can do is mumble about your guns, but maybe you now realize that we see you as dangerous when you have a gun? And maybe that is what makes gun nuts so crazy about guns is that a gun makes them feel dangerous?
I think that's it. Gun nuts feel powerless without a gun.
Duckhunter935
(16,974 posts)"Who was he planning on shooting?

if he had a gun he must be planning on shooting people..............................
I never plan on shooting anyone, hope I never have to. I am sure that is the feeling of 99.9% CCW permit holders. I was a boy scout and like to be prepared.
RobertEarl
(13,685 posts)But hey, being a gun nut means not having to be close to shoot someone.
So what we need to do is make closed off gun nut rooms for packers. Bullet proof glass, and herd them all in there so the rest of us can go about not worrying about getting shot.
Yeah, extreme, but they make smokers sit apart. Why not gun nuts?
Duckhunter935
(16,974 posts)1. how many legal CCW carriers have openly killed someone in a public place?

RobertEarl
(13,685 posts)Now, if we have gun alarms of some kind even the criminals who are packing will be noticed. Do you want packing criminals to go unnoticed? How about the half insane?
Why are some afraid to tell people they are packing heat? I understand criminals wanting to hide. Why do law abiding packers want to hide the fact they are packing? Because you don't want to be avoided and shunned?
Duckhunter935
(16,974 posts)come up with a gun alarm and get rich
Do you want packing criminals to go unnoticed?
They already do, If you wanted to really impact crime with weapons it would not be going after rifles but handguns. I give you credit for this.
Why are some afraid to tell people they are packing heat?
Do not know about others, but I am not afraid, Concealed is the law that is what CCW is.
Why do law abiding packers want to hide the fact they are packing?
I do not need to bring attention to myself or cause unreasonable fear to others. I very rarely carry and have had to pass training and have a federal background check and also be checked by my local sheriff.
Because you don't want to be avoided and shunned?
No
RobertEarl
(13,685 posts)And that is why we have to do something about people packing guns.
You seem reasonable, you don't seem like a gun nut at all.
So here is a question: Why don't you pack everywhere you go?
Duckhunter935

(53,661 posts)He had every right to walk out. And it's no wonder with the many low-information, instant gratification voters demand from officials that good people are leaving the field. To be replaced by bagger fanatics, who drag everything down to the lowest common denominator and think bullying is what it means to run a country. The mayor should not have listened to people outside his city emailing him.

(6,942 posts)..They interview the gun totting citizen. He is a disabled ex-vet who served in Afghanistan. In his closing comment he said he carry's as an extension of his military service... I guess his commander didn't sign his exit papers cause his military service is done.
The councilman also is an ex vet and owns guns. He just does not feel that council chambers is an appropriate place for guns.
If you watch the number in attendance when the gun guy goes to get a seat there are about 20 sitting down..after the vote the number drops to about 7... some I guess did not want to be there knowing some one was packing.

(5,756 posts)He's not a sheriff or a police officer. He has no business having the impression he is responsible for protecting other people with his gun. That pushes him toward being a vigilante.
He was trained as a solider, not a law enforcement officer. They are two very different things.
What exactly will be his decision-making process for when to draw his weapon to protect other people? It scares me to think about it.

(12,081 posts)council members before I don't blame Almberg for walking out. Council meetings can get very heated and citizens get very angry when council members do something they don't agree with. Why should this guy get to carry a weapon with him just because he is a veteran? My brother is a veteran and he doesn't carry a weapon every where he goes.
