registry or something, where every gun was tracked, and then if it was stolen, we could compile, like, I dunno, statistics or data on that, and track how these things are, y'know, like, kinda like disseminated or circulated through different communities. of, geez, if only such a thing were possible! If only there were some mechanism for figuring out who owned a gun and when, when it changed hands, if it was ever lost or stolen, what its progress was after that and from the time it was recovered! Oh, if only such a miraculous set of protocols could exist.

So I fail to see how this helps anything.

In addition, you can't bust a prohibited person from owning an unregistered gun. You can bust them for own or possessing a gun, but not for failing to registering their gun.

It falls entirely off the map until it turns up later at a crime-scene. For all the cops know, Rand Paul could have been using for snuggling to keep warm with at night and snort up shirly-temple shots. ...

Gun owners that have their guns stolen need to buy more guns to replace the stolen ones... And people that don't already have guns need to buy guns to shoot the people that stole other gun owners guns.

believe the south should have won the Civil War ... maybe our side should highlight the fact that the NRA started out to train Union army members how to shoot...

I'm sure you see where I'm going with this.
