He was a cute scottie. It must have been cool having a grandma who worked for the Roosevelts, she must have had so many amazing stories to tell.

I read that the King went with the flow, but that the Queen was not too enthused about the "weird" food.

Did she ever mention how the Roosevelts were in private life? Were they nice to her?

here in the states. She always considered herself lucky to work for the Roosevelts who treated her fairly and with respect. She was a bit of a character herself and went on to marry a doctor and have ten children.

My mother took us to Hyde Park often when we were kids.

Lucky you to have had such a grandmother. I've visited Hyde Park, but only as a tourist. It must have been nice to see it as a guest. You have some personal knowledge of people who most of us only know through history books, that's special.

20. Bo is a Portuguese Water dog, close cousin to the Poodle

It is presently believe the Standard Poodle is the foundation dog for itself, and its two close cousins the Portuguese Water dog and the Lagotto Romagnolo. This is open to debate for at the time period all three first are recorded (1300-1400s) writing about peasants, except when they were in revolt, was still rare and these three dogs were all peasants dogs at that time period:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lagotto_Romagnolo

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portuguese_Water_Dog

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standard_Poodle

All three are known for their sense of smell, the ability to be trained (Second only to the Border Collie) and have a hypoallergenic coat (Due to the fact they all have "Hair" that must be CUT for it will NOT break off, as oppose to other dogs that have "Fur" that breaks off after it gets so long).

One of the side affect of having hypoallergenic "hair" is that the "hair" must be cut, and thus you end up with all those fancy poodle cuts, most owners of Standard Poodles avoid those cuts, but it is those cuts people see most often on TV. Thus when Obama said he wanted a hypoallergenic dog, the first choice would have been a Poodle. Instead Obama took Ted Kennedy's advice and pick Bo, a Portuguese Water dog. a "Poodle" without the name "Poodle".

While present theory hold the dog is from Germany (The Term Poodle is derived from the German Equivalent of the English word "Puddle&quot they are dogs on stone craving that look like uncut poodles going back to Roman Times AND there is some support that the dog moved West From Russia during the Dark Ages.

We first have written reports of Poodles only with the adoption of Linen Paper around 1300, and then it appears to have been already a well known dog among peasants who hunted over water in Northern Germany (Which also had connections with both Italy via the Rhine and around the Alps to the Rhone River (or down the Danube then over the Alps via Vienna and Milan and then to Italy AND Russia via the Hanseatic league of that time period).

Northern Germany was also tied in with the Netherlands, who in the 1300s was tied in with Spain and Portugal.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanseatic_League

Please note the above is about the STANDARD POODLE and its two close cousins. It is believe these three breeds are closer to each other then the Standard Poodle is to is two smaller cousins, the Midget and Toy Poodles. The Standard Poodle, the Portuguese Water dog and the Lagotto Romagnolo retain most of they hunting ability, while the Midget and Toy do not.

Wasn't Bo was picked for his non-allergenic traits?

But a cat would seem so fitting.

my stepfather just lost his 12 yr old silky to liver cancer and he's convinced that it was because of those things, made in China from lord knows what. She had a very healthy diet otherwise and a small dog like that should live upwards of 18-20 years.

It hits these concepts:

Center of interest
Negative space
Rule of thirds
Framing
Leading lines
Limited pallet

I used to give a lecture on composition to photo groups.
