Is joe Biden going to run for president?

i saw something about this in a paper over the weekend. I hadn't really considered it before.

But if Hillary decides not to run - and she may not - then who do we have as backup?

And who does the GOP have? I can't see that they have anyone strong enough to do anything.

1. Too early to say. BTW, Obama was not really on the map in 2005. So we may get candidates that are

great and not on the map. Or who are, like O'Malley or Cuomo. Or it may be Clinton or Biden.

He's no nonsense, tell it like it is kind of guy, he's intelligent, respected by both parties, knows his way around politics, all in all, he would make a great president.
He has hes gaffes every now and then but that just seems to endear him to the american people.

people that support Biden and legal Cannabis have issues

Our pal Joe Biden created the Drug Czar after all...

should Democrats like this be given a pass?--

Biden has sponsored more damaging drug war legislation than any Democrat in Congress. Hate the way federal prosecutors use RICO laws to take aim at drug offenders? Thank Biden. How about the abomination that is federal asset forfeiture laws? Thank Biden. Think federal prosecutors have too much power in drug cases? Thank Biden. Think the title of a “Drug Czar” is sanctimonious and silly? Thank Biden, who helped create the position (and still considers it an accomplishment worth boasting about).

Tired of the ridiculous steroids hearings in Congress? Thank Biden, who led the effort to make steroids a Schedule 3 drug, and has been among the blowhardiest of the blowhards when it comes to sports and performance enhancing drugs. Biden voted in favor of using international development aid for drug control (think plan Columbia, plan Afghanistan, and other meddling anti-drug efforts that have only fostered loathing of America, backlash, and unintended consequences). Oh, and he was also the chief sponsor of 2004?s horrendous RAVE Act.

If a Republican did these things what would you say about that?
Would you support him/her for President?

I would hate to see Biden running against Hillary. And honestly, I think he'd lose against anyone. Biden would be 74 when he took office for his first term. That's too old.

I think a campaign can only tarnish him. He will lose.

That 60 Minutes interview had "endorsement" written all over it. And, it truth, I've long thought that a deal was cut with the Clintons last year: Bill brings the full force of his campaign charisma to bear for Obama, in exchange for Obama clearly endorsing Hillary as his heir apparent.

Add to that two friend-of-a-friend anecdotes. First, a journalist I know has been assured by another journalist who is very close to the Clintons that she's running. Second, the folks where my daughter works -- an organization that lives on liberal donations -- have been told by their donors (who were all just in town for the inauguration) that they're already being tapped for the 2016 Clinton war chest. Anecdotes, but there they are.

Now, who do we have if she doesn't run? Depressingly, a bunch of white guys (no, Elizabeth Warren won't run). Maybe Biden, but also Cuomo, O'Malley, Warner, Schweitzer, and a couple of wild cards probably from out west (Merkely? Hickenlooper?). Plus maybe Alan Grayson in the newly-available Denny Kucinich slot.

I agree with some political pundit who said the dems may have a bigger fight in 2016 if they go with a white guy. A lot of enthusiasm & turnout in '08 & '10 was a candidate that appeared to buck the status quo.

I have a republican friend who said this to me: "If Hillary runs in 2016 I will vote for her. Unless of course, Ron Paul runs, then I will vote for him. But he is the only republican that I would vote for over her."

If he's too old - then Ron Paul needed to be out to pasture two years ago!

But, since Bush vs Dukakis, the significantly younger candidate wins. In that case I think they were pretty close in age. You can bet they will run someone much younger than Hillary or Biden. Vibrant, athletic, energetic.... are all adjective candidates want to have applied to them. We will need to have someone who can be believably described as such, Chris Christie starts out with a huge disadvantage. If we have a candidate going up against Paul Ryan, they better be able to compare favorably in terms of health, youth, vibrance...
