In the United States, it ranks as the largest mainline denomination, the second largest Protestant church after the Southern Baptist Convention, and the third largest Christian denomination. As of 2009, worldwide membership was about 12 million: 7.7 million in the United States and Canada,[6] and 4.4 million in Africa, Asia and Europe.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Methodist_Church

Some Methodists may belong to the NRA, but probably not one-half of them.

Plus Unitarians are a little over maybe a million.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unitarian_Universalism#Number_of_members

On edit, almost two million Episcopalians also on the list.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Episcopal_Church_%28United_States%29

Non-members way, way outnumber members of the NRA.

are exactly why many people eschew religion. You couldn't find a greater congregation of nutjobs if you went to a Republican convention, though most Southern Baptists attend both. They make a mockery of religion. I grew up amongst Southern Baptists, and while a few are good people, the vast majority are enough to send people fleeing from religion for life.

Thank you, Catholicism is more sane than Southern Baptists, and that isn't saying much.

It might also be argued Earth First is a terrorist group, something the NRA might actually condone.

I used to stand in solidarity with the ideas of Earth First until they burned our local independent family owned stock auction yard to the ground. Small farmers and ranch outfits now have to drive their livestock another eighty miles to market them. Earth First Yahoos killed a local business while the corporate feed lots flourish, unaffected.

To add insult to injury, the location of the old stock yard, with its famous killer greasy spoon cafe, is now a fucking Walmart.

I have to be satisfied that I'm a member of half a dozen of these organizations, but really I want individual recognition. Kinda hurts my feelings, as if I've not done enough to be considered an enemy of the NRA.

I loathe the NRA with the heat of a thousand suns. I'm disgusted that I share a country with their members. I'm sickened to see them heckle Newtown parents, and I'm sickened to see them harass those whose loved one's committed suicide with guns, as I've personally witnessed.

I'm an enemy of the NRA, and very proud of that fact.

Maybe it's a badge of honor. And yet, I am not a fanatic about gun control. I do think guns should be registered. We need to find out how criminals get a hold of them. We need to be able to trace the guns criminals use back to their legitimate source. Therefore we need to register guns.

Also, we need gun laws for big cities. Too many guns on the streets = gang warfare, unnecessary deaths, dead kids, grieving families and fear. We shouldn't have to live in that kind of a community.

If the NRA has real solutions that can work, let them bring them forward. More guns will not work. We have more than enough guns already.

Come on - sensationalism anyone? All the NRA did was keep a list of Gun control advocates. Any business keeps track of who is on their side... talk about blowing things out of proportion and not telling the whole story... Give people ALL the information to make an informed decision.

"After the Journal News published the names and addresses of more than 33,000 legal handgun permit holders, making families, homes and neighborhoods vulnerable to theft and assault, the National Rifle Association decided to hit back. If the intent of the newspaper was to shame those with gun permits living in their community, the NRA has upped the game by publishing the names of gun control advocates all over the country. Many of the names on the list are companies, organizations and individuals that are guarded by armed security."
