(59,498 posts)I know that is a hard committee to get on, but she would be awesome on it - and could not have been assigned to it when Kerry was on it as only one from a state could be there.

(59,498 posts)Kerry and Rockefeller both were chairs of two of the most important committees, SFRC and Commerce, as junior Senators. Both entered the Senate in 1985 and by 2009, were in their 24th year in the Senate. They were themselves among the most senior, influential Senators - even though Kennedy and Byrd were the senior senators. There were MANY senior senators who were less powerful than Kerry and Rockefeller.
All it does is make her name the first name on announcements of things the Senate does for MA and some other things like having more say on recommending federal justices for MA.
