PROOF that the NRA is doing an excellent job...

And it has NOTHING to do with protecting gun rights.

Click on the link below...Then in the graph look at the very top left & you will see a choice of different time spans...Click 5yrs. You will see that Ruger's stock price was $6 & some change when President Obama took office...The stock price today is $52!!!! Ruger did NOTHING over the last 4yrs but sit back & let the NRA do their FEAR CAMPAIGNS & the money roll in like it has never done before!!

...If you want to see how the NRA has done through the life of Ruger's stock then click "ALL" & you can see the NRA FEAR Campaigns in the 90s...in 2006...And the grand daddy of them all 2009-Present!!

https://www.google.com/finance?q=RUGER&ei=LiEJUdiJD6PGlgPnNw

Smith & Wesson benefited as well but only a 4 fold increase instead of a 5 fold increase like Ruger's stock...S&W did better in 2006 when the Democrats took over Congress.

1. I don't think you know what you're talking about.

Ruger has done an amazing job rebuilding its company by producing new designs for self-defense pistols and revolvers and even put our AR variants designed for hunting and defense.

I'll update this with pictures. And I show these pictures because they illustrate the big change in Ruger's business model.

Handguns:
In 2008 they borrowed heavily from the Kel-tec design produced a superior .380 pocket gun:

In 2009 they issued a polymer enhanced revolver for self-defense:

In 2011 they issued a very small, high quality 9mm that is based off the popular LCP above.

Rifles:
In 2009 Ruger went tactical with its rifles with the SR556

Mags:
And they starting making high-quality 30 round mags for the mini-14.

I think you get the picture that Ruger redeveloped their product line.

The above firearms are really different from Ruger's bread and butter products such as Blackhawks and Minis. Still fine firearms, but really different from what's selling today. Ruger tried other semi-auto pistols and rifles but the last four years have been a major success for Ruger.

.357 Blackhawk.

Mini-14:

Edited to add: Sorry alerter. Better luck next time.

3. I agree with the stock price data, but I provided more data to support a better explanation.

The OP said , "Ruger did NOTHING over the last 4yrs but sit back & let the NRA do their FEAR CAMPAIGNS & the money roll in like it has never done before!!"

That is not true as I have shown.

The NRA exists only to support weapons manufacturers & increase the sales of firearms. They do not support the interests of the average gun owner & do not support responsible gun ownership. And you can forget about safety.

The result is we have 30,000 people killed by guns each year with no end in site.

Ruger producing different models is something new when it is what Ruger does...Ruger did not go from a $150 Million company to a BILLION DOLLAR company in 4yrs simply due to a few new gun models...You can look at the history of the company & see when it stock price rises above $15 dollars only happens when Democrats are in control & the NRA can run FEAR Campaigns...They can't run FEAR Campaigns when the GOP controls everything & the stock price over time reflects this clearly!!

While I disagree with the NRA-ILA's political position, the NRA proper conducts more safe gun training than any other organization on the planet...more for beginners, more for advanced shooters, more for law enforcement.

13. Gun safety consists of more than the avoidance of shooting your own foot off.
Wed Jan 30, 2013, 11:52 AM

It also involves making sure that innocent children don't get shot. In allowing guns to be used improperly gun owners have FAILED MISERABLY.

It's the NRA's political positions - and those of all opponents of gun control - which prevents them from addressing this issue responsibly. There's no separation between the NRA and the NRA-ILA. That would be like the Catholic Church saying that they aren't responsible for what the US Conference of Catholic Bishops say. There's no daylight between them.

And here's a clue: 99% of the time guns are not used properly.

And here's a clue: 99% of the time guns are not used properly.

If this were even close to factual there would be 100 or 150 million cases of misused firearms every year..instead of the 100k or so combined injuries from all firearms related incidents. 100 million plus gun owners..100k injuries = .1%...one tenth of 1 percent...

It is the repeated lies, falsehoods, errors, and nonsense which will insure nothing changes..it is akin to reefer madness, the rabid arm of the gun control activists hurt the chances of any reform presented by people who truly wish to make reasonable changes..

Again, dislike the NRA-ILA, most people who own guns and many who do not know that the NRA is in fact the largest and most devoted organization in existence actually training people to be safe shooters...there isn't a single police officer in your town or mine who doesn't take training certified by the NRA, like it or not..

Ruger is constantly bringing in new models & changing existing ones...That is what they have done their entire existence the only thing that has changed is the political landscape which provides the NRA with the perfect climate to run FEAR Campaigns in order to boost gun sales...They can't do that when Republicans control everything.

Ruger is NOT a BILLION DOLLAR company as its stock price reflects!! This person seems to be speaking with emotion more than reality. The stock price will fall & fall a long way once the gun control debate fades...It always does!

Ruger would never had had a 5 fold increase in their stock if it were not for the NRA FEAR Campaigns...NEVER in the history of the company have they had such an increase, ever.

I will jot down your screen name & come back to you in a few years & I know their stock price will be at least half what is if not approaching single digits. The company is not worth a BILLION DOLLARS!! No way no how!! LOL!

I am a gun owner as well & sorry but those pistols you claim are responsible for the biggest increase in their stock in the history of the company is, I am sorry, but laughable.

As far as the "rebuilding the company" goes...I cannot find a single financial news article reflecting your claims. The only thing that has changed from the normal operations of the company is the political landscape of the nation.

I am 100% in support of gun rights & that is why I am disgusted with the NRA & how they refuse to be a voice of reason in the gun control debate...They are ONLY concerned with causing panic among the ignorant to boost gun sales!

8. I agree that Ruger's and many gun manufacturers prices will fall. Most will.

But you said Ruger did nothing and that's just not true. They changed they product line significantly from previous offerings.

Let's face it, the real fear generators are those politicians who talk about banning guns and accessories.

11. In terms of panic buying and recent big bumps in sales -- its about gun bans and mag bans.
Wed Jan 30, 2013, 10:53 AM
Jan 2013

But yes, the NRA is turning political desires into fear campaigns. They are often hyperbolic and sometimes outright lies.

I don't think you can ignore the foundational role that real gun control rhetoric plays into the panic buying and even hoarding of firearms. It was the 1994 ban that helped make ARs and 17 round glock mags so damn popular.

I hate that the NRA goes bat-shit crazy, but on the other hand I probably wouldn't be able to own half the firearms with their accessories/mags if it weren't for resistance to gun and accessory bans.

their sales would be through the roof even though the AWB has no chance to pass.
