As do all of the companies that do business with these Chinese Contract Manufacturers. It isn't just Apple, it isn't just FoxConn, it is Dell, Motorola, Flextronics, all of them that take advantage of a group of workers.
That being said, all of us suck a bit for supporting these companies, me with my iPad purchase, IMac purchase, laptop, etc.
The solution isn't to fight amongst ourselves over mac vs microsoft or iphone vs android phone. The solution will be realized when we all realize that we may need to make a stand, do without and be vocal why we are doing without. Even if I have to live without my iPod Nano, which I think is the coolest, for a couple of years.

There seems to be a conscious pile on of apple while a whole list of companies are equally guilty.
There was a study done a few years back regarding the success of people, companies and products.
There is a certain cult like following that happens with all successful products, but then there is a break point, where the product, brand, person or corporation is no longer "cool". Sometimes it happens because the person, corp, item, etc because too successful. Sometimes it's media saturation. Sometimes it's because if it's business practices and sometimes, this is the oddlest one, just because. No reason. People just start not only disliking something but truly start hating what ever it is. As if it were a personal afront.
I find it completely fasinating.
as for apple, I use them but I also use PC's. I never was one to be part of the cult of anything. To me various product cults are just anothe form of religion.
I digress.
Any corporation who willingly uses slave labor for the manufacture of their various gewgaws, deserves to have a spot light upon them. Apple, due to their success, now has the biggest and brightest light upon them. However, if this had come to light, say 12 years ago, Dell would have had the spot light. Or if it were just a few years ago or LG or Samsung would have had that spot light.
people love to hate, but given the circumstances, the anger is justified, however, it should be pointed at the tech industry as a whole. While we should expect any corporation to be responcible in their labor practices, it becomes a ridiculous argument to single out apple and not take the others to task as well.

(1 post)I have NEVER bought from ANY of those companies that you're going on a huge rant to "make a stand". Is this some sort of guilt trip because you just realized you've been supporting oppression for so many years?
Stick with Japanese and Taiwanese tech, ASUS and Gigabyte ftw
