LaPierre's opposition to background checks makes no sense UNLESS you understand how the gun racket

How the racket works:

Step 1) Loosen gun laws, making it easy for criminals to get guns.
Step 2) Scare law abiding citizens about the number of guns the crooks have.
Step 3) Sell them lots of guns, make lots of money.
Step 4) Use some of that money to lobby Congress to...RETURN TO STEP 1
Repeat until 10 000 people are billionaires and 300 000 000 people are dead of gunshot wounds.

We need to get this message out. Once this con job has been exposed for what it is, support for the gun lobby will evaporate. Mainly because the paranoid gun nuts are also big conspiracy theorists. At the moment, they're buying guns and donating to whatever party is promising to let them KEEP ON buying guns, because of some stupid conspiracy theory that they're being set up for concentration camps by their own government. The only way to trump THAT conspiracy is by exposing the ACTUAL conspiracy. The conspiracy to PLAY THESE IDIOTS FOR SUCKERS by the GUN INDUSTRY for the soul purpose of making money.

I have no objection to making money. But making money is one thing...making money off the corpses of slaughtered children is something else.

Hi I'm 0.1%, I'm a super gun-nut and I'm not even ashamed to say it. Assault weapons, silencers, submachine guns and all sorts of crazy shit. I am a delicate flower. And even I... ME THE CRAZY GUN NUT... thinks everyone should have NICS run a criminal background search. I mean, c'mon! It takes 10 freakin' minutes for the guy to call NICS while I sit there thinking up a name for the new addition to my collection. Background checks are about the same level of inconvenience to me as wiping my ass well so my underwear don't get stains.

Not only that... if you fail an NICS check the situation should be flagged and investigated. More or less, as it stands now, failed attempts to illegally purchase weapons are basically NOT pursued by the ATF. Hell, put a three-day waiting period on that shit and simply tell the person they passed (even though they failed) and to come pick it up in three days. When the dude shows up in 3 days, there's Mr ATF waiting to have a chat in the back room.

Nonviolent pot smokers should not be crowding up prisons... ex-convict criminals caught trying to buy guns should be.

8. The whole Gun Industry debate reminds me a lot of the stupid CIGARETTE debate we went through

a few years ago. Where executives of cigarette companies would testify before Congress that cigarettes are not dangerous, do not cause cancer, and oh by the way...you're stamping on our FREEDOM and LIBERTY if you want to do anything to stop their use. Then, after they'd made their financial fortunes and retired they'd end up doing public service announcement commercials about how they lied to Congress when they said that.

Not that anything was ever done about cigarettes, and not that anything will ever be done about guns, UNTIL somebody passes some common sense laws banning the ability of industries to lobby Congress and donate money to political campaigns.

would outweigh the self-enpowerment of owning guns...it won't.

Those who prop up the NRA get off WAY too much on their own notions of self reliance; being able to fight their fears, 'being prepared', and selfishly & uncontrollably feeding their perceived needs and wants are all too powerful. The wisdom and desire and importance of protecting those images are fed constantly.

So they cheer the great surge in gun sales, they are proud that ammunition is selling out...they will NOT worry 1 bit about giving money to the manufacturers who build their 'tools'...they are just another necessary part of the system that feeds them.

Chris Matthews put it best when he said that in the old days Democrats wanted LIMITS on campaign financing, but not disclosure, and Republicans wanted disclosure but not limits. Now Democrats want both limits and disclosure, and Republicans are blocking both.
