Dog sentenced to death for being gay RESCUED!

Stop calling the Madison County animal shelter — the gay bulldog was adopted hours ago.

The Jackson, Tenn., shelter was flooded with phone calls after a story on the website Gawker went viral, a man who answered the phone there said.

<snip>

“I can’t understand it,” said the shelter worker, who declined to give his name. “You know those dogs get on top of each other sometimes.”

And while the worker agreed an interesting back story can lead to quicker adoptions, it also leads to too many phone calls for the small shelter to handle, he said.

“I have had about 10 million calls this morning. It has been adopted already. It is gone,” he said. “He’s in good hands.”

Yes, the story was real, and thanks to it spreading on the internet the dog has been adopted!

Maybe the bigoted fool who sent him to the pound in the first place will feel a bit like a fool if they read the article in The Tennessean. I doubt they will, but one can hope.

If I had money and a large property I would have a shelter for animals...I like them better.

of the others who needed adoption...hopefully they used the opportunity to bring a few people in to look around and hopefully save someone else.

If that many people (or a lot less than that) could adopt, then the shelter should be empty.

when people call wanting to adopt the pet that's the news item of the day, then don't want to bother with the other animals in need of a home.

You know there are other good pets there near their time of euthanasia as well. Just because they're not famous doesn't mean they're any less deserving of rescue.
