With plenty of volunteers to play the part of the "perp."

Reality of unchecked guns has come to either smother us or be defeated.

as for mass shootings, the numbers have held steady for the past several decades.

Myth: Mass shootings are on the rise.

Reality: Over the past three decades, there has been an average of 20 mass shootings a year in the United States, each with at least four victims killed by gunfire. Occasionally, and mostly by sheer coincidence, several episodes have been clustered closely in time. Over all, however, there has not been an upward trajectory. To the contrary, the real growth has been in the style and pervasiveness of news-media coverage, thanks in large part to technological advances in reporting.

We could use some of that right now, especially with all those who think guns aren't the problem.

Just had to add that.

Dallas DA Craig Watkins says arrest made in slaying of Kaufman prosecutor

Dallas County District Attorney Craig Watkins says an arrest has been made in this morning’s slaying in Kaufman.

Watkins won’t say when, where or who was arrested, however, and Kaufman officials at a 3 p.m. news conference seemed unaware of any arrest.

“I can’t overstep the bounds of Kaufman County,” Watkins said. “All I can tell you is that there was an arrest.”

16. It's possible this one may be an Aryan Brotherhood assassination.

However, hours after Hasse was gunned down, the Department of Justice issued a release on its website crediting the Kaufman County District Attorney's Office with helping investigate two known members of the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas gang. They pled guilty the day of the shooting to racketeering charges.

Before the release was issued, The Dallas Morning News credited "authorities with knowledge of the assistant DA's caseload" as saying he was "heavily involved" in an investigation of the Aryan Brotherhood. According to the release, Ben Christian Dillon, aka "Tuff", of Houston, and James Marshall Meldrum, aka "Dirty", both "agreed to commit multiple acts of murder, robbery, arson, kidnapping and narcotics tracking" for the Aryan Brotherhood.

Total speculation, but for the most part Kaufman County is not a hotbed for organized crime or hits like this one usually. Which makes this rare high profile case stand out.

Where's that damn button? Oh

Was the reason only two were hit because another middle schooler whipped out their own AR and took the bad guy ( or bad kid) down?

19. Gun owners have my permission to beat me up... ADT
Thu Jan 31, 2013, 06:31 PM
Jan 2013

I hear all day/night on TV that Gun Owners want to keep a gun in their house to keep their family safe!

I keep my house "safe" with ADT.

I got into it with a gun owner who told me that ADT could not keep my house safe because ADT did not send the police if the alarm went off as someone tried to enter -- wrong in my area of CA.

My experience: I was going to the store and left my Mom , in the house , for 30 minutes -- I told her NOT to open the door for anyone. I got home in 25/30 minutes and a sheriff was going up my driveway with a loaded gun! I went crazy on him and told him to get the hell out of my drive way so I could park, that my 95 years young Mom forgot that the alarm was on.

He told me to get out of the way and I continued to go into the drive way. I told him he better not scare my Mom !!!

He got so frustrated that he got in his car and left ~~~~ he was wrong . He was supposed to cover me the Sheriff Chief told me. The Chief told me that under those circumstances he should have remained until he was absolutely sure that I was the owner.

Another example, not sure this happens everywhere.... my nephew's alarm went off and he was not at home. The Police arrived and they called for the police helicopters to circle the neighborhood to see what they could see. He returned their call within minutes of the "double check" by the Police.

So, ADT has taken care of me for more than 10 years. I do not intend to play Cowgirl and have a gun in a locked draw in my bedroom and someone breaks in the kitchen door and I am in the living room.

Since I live in a lovely urban area -- on my doors in the back of my house, I have double doors, with nice screens on them.

My ADT also tells me when I forget to lock a door when I go out -" Back door open etc. "

Next thing I do: When I go to Bed, I keep my hand held phone next to me. If I hear anything strange, I have it set to push the button and call ADT immediately. I also have the names/phone numbers of my close neighbors and family members listed with ADT.
