The day before yesterday, I managed to back my car into a snowbank on the side of my driveway. It looked like a demented chimp was doing the driving. It was good and stuck. Yesterday morning I heard the sound of a tractor, looked out the window and there was a neighbor on his tractor, hitching a chain to my car. He pulled my car out and then spent 20 minutes plowing my driveway and getting rid of the snowbanks. He wouldn't take any payment. This isn't someone I know well- just a nodding acquaintance. When I thanked him, he just said "well, we all need a helping hand once in a while".
It made my day.

(23,922 posts)simple for even a nodding aquaintance to discern what a kind and caring soul you are. You deserved it, and I have no doubt that you will pay it forward.

Yesterday I visited an artist friend who made some cool buttons. I bought four for $40. I'm giving three to friends. Now he & his girlfriend posted that they're having an ice cream social & I'm invited. I love pay it forward!

(18,219 posts)That was very kind of him. Makes my day as well as yours. Get him a gas card for repayment (he probably needs it with a tractor), or bake him a cake. And now you have no excuse to not introduce yourself and get to know him.

I can't fault these good people. They are very nice and they are training their kids to be just as nice.
