http://www.facebook.com/FAUGOP"Our Student Body President lobbied on "our" behalf to keep tuition rates flat going forward. Florida is, and has been, one of the most heavily taxpayer subsidized public education systems in the country. It is time to achieve at least median status, which means successive years of maximum tuition increases."
Wow, so the FAU College Republicans are upset because they think college is too affordable, and are angry at their student government because it is trying to save students' some money and excess debt.
Talk about arguing against your best interests. Just wow........

(4,723 posts)1. I wonder how many of those College Republicans that are griping
are there because Mommy and Daddy are paying for college and living expenses. I was in college in Florida as a grad student, and taught a course each semester. I was surprised how many of the students who to my course were there because their parents were paying for the whole thing, living expenses included. I don't say this as a guess from attitudes or something; I am going by what the students themselves told me. Things like "My parents are paying for me to go here and live, and when they see my grade they are going to freak out." Or, "My parents are paying for this so I want to do well to please them."
