Is Mitt trying to lose this thing? Just a thought.

Mitt knows he is not going to beat Obama so he loses to Newt. Newt crashes and burns in GE against Obama.
Republicans then wonder if maybe they should have gone with Mitt after all.
Mitt is set up for 2016, when Republicans presumably have a better chance with no incumbent running.
How else does one explain the incredible bumbling the last couple of weeks?

how big his win will be. So Mitt, being a calculating kind of guy, might think his chances in 2016 are better if Newt is the fall guy instead of him.

His annoyance at not having already won the nomination is starting to show through...in the debates it's like he's struggling to maintain the fiction that he's a human being.

pivoting away from attacking primary opponents to attacking the general election opponent is standard practice, and an efficent use of resources, when you've pretty much got the nomination wrapped up.

rmoney believed the polls and the media who were saying he was mr. inevitable.

obviously that view now seems premature, but it was certainly "conventional wisdom" for a while.

he's had trouble adapting and figuring out a way to nail the nomination down without disrupting his strategy for the general.

But there is no bigger trophy than to be elected POTUS. I sincerely doubt his motivation has anything to do with a great desire lor vision to better the conditions of the bottom 99% in this country. I think it has everything to do with having your name/family permanently enshrined in the most prestigious and exclusive club ever created.

The Office was debased when Bush the Dimmer was selected...and I believe it was for the same reason - another trophy for the family dynesty. It was a pure, unmitigated disaster for this country. We need to elect people that have a constructive vision for this country and a record that underscores this commitment. Not someone who wants to add 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue to their residence record.

I really hope someone asks Mitt why he is running...while he's hooked up to a lie detector.

when the Republican field will have more qualified people for him to compete with. He would probably never win the nomination in 2016. Guys like Rubio or Cantor or Ryan might be running. Mitt wouldn't stand a chance.

This is probably his best chance, would be my guess what he's thinking. And looks like he might win the nomination.

The simplest explanation is usually closest to the truth.

There is no conspiracy, just a gaggle of bumbling oafs jostling for the position of Head Moron.

Newt can lose the Senate and the House (not likely unless you ...you know... nominate Newt).

This is why all of the establishment is trying to put Newt away.

Forget the kitchen sink, Mittens wants this so bad, he's throwing caution to the wind and not to mention all his money to beat Obama. He knows its now or never and its going to be NEVER for Mittens.
