*snip*
"... when Warren asks Tom Curry, who heads a little regulatory agency called the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, why the OCC hasn't taken more Wall Street banks to trial, rather than settling out of court and getting them to pay a penalty when they break the law, and Curry hems and haws and can't really answer, so he basically goes full Milton from Office Space and then just kind of trails off and sulks."
Lots more!

(21,977 posts)Warren is great at the former. Let's hope it leads to the latter.

(17,505 posts)"Charging banks with lots of crimes, for example, would likely have the unintended consumer-unfriendly result of putting a lot of them out of business."
A LOT of them out of business? HELLO! There USED to be a lot of banks, but not anymore. A LOT of them have been swallowed up and ARE "out of business".
There's a graph of banks being swallowed up by bigger banks somewhere out there, but I couldn't find it.
But it clearly shows there are something like 1/3 (maybe less) the number of banks than there were in the 1970's.
Break 'em up.... like the Phone Company.

(39,909 posts)Repeating the mantra that Senator Warren "Hates Wall Street Bankers" will NOT do us any good.
Senator Warren IS "protecting the Consumers" and "providing the necessary oversight".
I HATE Wall Street Bankers,
but Senator Warren is merely "Doing Her Job".
DURec anyway.
