CONSERVATIVES CONSIDER IMPEACHMENT IF THEY LOSE TO OBAMA

A highly influential conservative leader is already considering an impeachment strategy against President Obama if he wins re-election.

Grover Norquist of Americans For Tax Reform told National Journal that if Obama is re-elected and refuses to re-authorize the Bush-era tax cuts for millionaires, “Obama can sit there and let all the tax [cuts] lapse, and then the Republicans will have enough votes in the Senate in 2014 to impeach.”

Norquist is infamous for his anti-tax pledge, which has been signed by most Republicans and a few Democrats, which forces them to oppose any and all tax increases or face a primary opponent funded by Norquist and his shadowy multi-millionaire donors.

In an interview with Bill Moyers on PBS, Norquist professed his desire to shrink the government “down to the size where we can drown it in the bathtub.”

The Senate doesn't impeach, the House does. They already have enough votes to impeach the President if they want to. But they need a two-thirds majority in the Senate to convict, and they certainly won't have that any time soon.

For god's sake, don't they need a reason?

Do they just want to hamstring him for months like they did with Clinton? Cost millions of tax payer dollars to put on that Lewinski charade.

And I heard Newt bragging about the surplus and tax cuts that came about while he was speaker. How is that for a hypocrite. Obstructionist bitchard.

... like they've done the last term. If they don't do an impeachment and they are in a majority in the House still, and just obstruct everything and don't get anything out to help a nation that needs help, they are setting themselves up for perhaps an even bigger overhaul than they faced in 2008. Perhaps they think they can get people distracted enough with their hate for Obama through doing an impeachment then, even if it is destined to fail, much like they did with Clinton.

You know...the thing about repeating the same thing over and over again and expecting the outcome to be different. Apparently, they didn't learn from the Clinton impeachment, and this time they have even less on this President. And, as I recall, Clinton's approval ratings went up by a large percentage AFTER the impeachment. I don't think the country is in the mood to be dragged through that bullshit once again.

Sun Jan 29, 2012, 05:36 PM

maybe Jackie would like to earn a little time off his prison sentence for tax fraud by helping get rid of Grover.

Norquist also admits arranging White House access for Jack Abramoff’s clients, at the same time as he was soliciting large donations for his organizations from them. Norquist led the K Street Project, a GOP effort to purge Washington lobbying firms of Democrats, with Tom DeLay, the House majority leader until indicted (and convicted) on political conspiracy charges in Texas.

Or let's talk about his buddy, Abdurahman Alamoudi, head of the American Muslim Council(AMC). He was convicted of terror financing.

Why do teabaggers support terrorist enablers?

They are so blinded by their hatred for the current President, they'll try just about ANYTHING to get rid of him, and the thought of him winning a second term has driven them off the deep end. They are not rational, so they are not going to behave rationally.

The problem for the repugs is, the way things are going now, there's a decent chance they're going to lose the House. Then they won't even have the chance to impeach him. Norquist is spewing this shit because he fears just that. He's riling up the base. There is no enthusiasm for Romney, and the more of them that stay home in November, the fewer of them there will be to vote for repug candidates in other races. He's trying to give them some incentive to show up at the polls in November.
