For years Keith kept us informed and alert to what was happening in our country and around the globe. As a result, last night Rachel was unable to come up with information that I had not heard before. Thank you Keith for being there at that time and place. From the Iraq war to the stolen election in Ohio you were there.
I will never forget coming in from a cold December demonstration on the State House steps in Columbus, Ohio after the election was stolen, to find that Olbermann was the only media source to cover the committed actions of a select group of Ohioans. We stood where all Americans should have been. Thank you, Keith for being there.
Last night after watching Rachel, a flood of memory came back. The pain of witnessing first hand the acts of warmongers, killing in my name and the name of my country. Thank you Rachel for encapsulating so much information about this crime, a crime so large that it is impossible to attach every detail. Anthrax and lost scientists among many other details will be left for another day.
And thank you for introducing us to Rachel. She is a bright spot in a dark place!

(11,076 posts)It was a family affair. We would belly up to the bar and have dinner after a day of running in all directions. It seemed like the world stopped for the time being. I don't really have a show like that anymore. I love Rachel but sometimes she repeats things and uses intros to excess. Last night it was so nice to hear her voice. It sounded like she wasn't afraid that I was too stupid to get the point.

(6,119 posts)for introducing the world to Rachel Maddow. She was the one who hired her at Air America.

(16,950 posts)I miss him too. He's a star, and I can't understand why he's given the run-around by networks when other stars are catered to. So what if he has a big ego. They all do.

(16,993 posts)I say "for" instead of "with" because he doesn't seem to be a team player.
Keith helped a lot of us get through those dark Bush years. I'd love to see him back on a network with better access than Current. CNN perhaps?

(12,882 posts)I've resisted Twittering since it's debut. Call it determined ignorance, but I already spend way too much time staring at a monitor or whacking at a keyboard. Which is why I wasn't aware of Keiths presence there.

(2,389 posts)If you had followed his Twitter, you would have seen him tweet multiple times, that is isn't on Facebook. (Search his older tweets on Twitter, to see this for yourselves.) He's not happy with the person impersonating him on FB, but apparently his complaints to FB have fallen on deaf ears.
The more people "like" that FB page, the more the impersonator gets away with it. Please follow Keith on his VERIFIED Twitter account, and "unlike" that FB page, to help Keith discourage that person.
If you don't want to get a Twitter account, just check his Twitter page each day (link posted elsewhere in this thread--no Twitter account needed to view the content). He often posts photos and info on what he's up to.

The following video is, according to Wikipedia, KO's first Special Comment on August 30, 2006.

(487 posts)He seemed to genuinely respect Rachel and basically introduced her to American television audiences. No doubt his pride doesn't allow him to publicly admit watching the network, but I suspect he's a viewer.

(20,453 posts)KO was the one to allow the talented Rachel Maddow's "break". I loved her Air America morning radio show, but how many people knew of that network, or would continue to know about Rachel.
She's done the thing in journalism where you break all kinds of barriers. She's a talent, alright.
And, so was Keith. I wonder when he'll return to forever...

Edited to add that I didn't know that the edit function remained active this long. Very cool! I went in and made the repairs with the exception of the word able. While Rachel continues to educate me on many things she was unable to do that on the subject of Iraq and the thieving thieves! : )
The Wizard
(12,536 posts)to put a finger in the face of the Bush cartel and say they were full of shit. He lent an air of legitimacy to a media that had/is bought off by the highest bidders. Certainly wasn't afraid to get fired. Put MSNBC on the map and ate O'Reilly's lunch. He made the news interesting and fun. Keith and the Daily Show saved my sanity.

(6,828 posts)First, Keith is articulate, well informed and has a tremendous analytical insight. He can dig to the heart of issues and explain his digging in a coherent understandable way. He strings words together beautifully.
I think he is the best and most courageous journalist of the 21st century!
Well, a little hyperbolic, but I was moved by probably every single episode of Countdown since I started back in 2003.
I also like his wonderful and highly educated sense of humor. Anybody that pays tribute to people like Bob & Ray and guests Sarah Silverman and Richard Lewis is a hero in my book!
-90% Jimmy
PS - I think his ego-maniacal reputation is largely undeserved. I don't think it's possible to have such a great and self deprecating sense of humor and still be a full blown arrogant egomaniac.
