WASHINGTON (AP) The first family wrapped up a busy weekend with a walk Sunday to the Corcoran Gallery of Art.
President Barack Obama, first lady Michelle and their daughters, Sasha and Malia, strolled a block from the White House to the museum.
The Corcoran's current exhibits include "30 Americans," which the museum describes as a showcase of "many of the most important African-American artists of the last three decades."

Malia and Sasha, took in the Corcoran Gallery of Art's special exhibition called "30 Americans." The gallery's Web site calls the exhibition a "wide-ranging survey of work by many of the most important African-American artists of the last three decades."
A White House officials said the Obamas also toured an exhibit on Civil War photography and the gallery's contemporary art collection.
The gallery was closed to the public for the evening to afford the first family some privacy.

(85,977 posts)We took the subway from the 'burbs and came up a couple of blocks from the gallery and strolled down the same gravel path the President's family walked down. You pass the old Smithsonian on the Corcoran Gallery side and the National Gallery and the Museum of Natural History on the other (great visits there, as well). We brought our own lunches and ate them by the sculpture garden in front of the Corcoran. We all agreed that the best part was the air conditioning and the ultra-soft leather seats in the gallery. Great art, too . . .
