Depends on who was directly on the receiving end of those bat shit-crazy policies and getting screwed over by them during the 1980's. They probably have quite a different perspective compared to another person who may have been benefiting from them back then. Those people probably hardly noticed it. But the workers who watched their job be moved overseas during that time sure noticed it.

My point is the right wing was just as bat-shit crazy back then as it is now. Only difference is the bat-shit crazy policies they put in place back then have slowly strangled us like a boa constrictor and are now effecting a lot more people in a negative way these days they they were back then. Therefore a lot more people are now paying attention and becoming politically active.

I seem to remember the term welfare queen being started back then and entitlements that's when they made liberal a dirty word by calling us bleeding heart liberals The hate machine started with Atwater and has only gotten worse I voted for the first time in 88 I got my heart broke when we lost to the hate.
