Axelrod tweaks Romney over strapping dog to car roof

President Obama's chief political consultant is making a play for one of the country's most passionate interest groups: dog lovers.

Axelrod tweeted a picture of Obama riding in the presidential limousine with his dog, Bo, and included a veiled swipe at Mitt Romney:

"How loving owners transport their dogs," Axelrod wrote.

The comment was a reference to a widely-circulated story about how Romney strapped his family dog, Seamus, in a kennel to the roof of his car during a 12-hour road trip to Canada despite the Irish setter suffering from diarrhea. The incident happened in 1983.

That ancedote became fodder for a Newt Gingrich campaign ad earlier this month. Romney has since defended the decision, saying the dog was comfortable.

I think someone in that car didn't care for "stinky dog" smell at close quarters for a twelve hour ride. Heartless so and so.

They think it's funny, though. Shows how they were raised.

i want to make some campaign material using one or some of the pics while explaining what Romney did.

i think this is an area where we can get some non voters who aren't informed but if they are likely to vote they would vote Dem to go out and vote just because of this issue.

i don't know if i can use dogsagainstromney.com as the website for people to go to for more info but i will ask them.
