On facebook - a few days old, but still hysterical!

Last edited Mon Mar 18, 2013, 04:47 PM - Edit history (1)

The Pope, wearing a fabulous vintage chiffon-lined Dior gold lame gown
over a silk Vera Wang empire waist tulle cocktail dress,
accessorized with a three-foot House of Whoville hat and
the ruby slippers Judy Garland wore in the Wizard of Oz, on his way to tell us it's Wrong to be Gay.

2. It's vintage?

Maybe all this Pope selection stuff is really about finding someone who is the correct size.

3. The pope's dressings

seem to be justification for men who want to be a fairy princess... who says it's just for girls? I always thought that all that fairy princess shlock was the hollow consolation prize envisioned by misogynists for the sleight of equity they were imposing on women.

this appears to prove my speculations' accuracy.

but I liked the "farted" comment!

16. The robes and gowns are too much.

Why can't they all just wear slacks and a sport coat or something? They'd be more comfortable, and the money they save on all the finery could actually go to help people.

19. That's no joke!

Honestly, just the shoes would pay my rent for a few years and my car ins. and probably my groceries too.

21. Similar photo and almost identical quote from 2006 re: Pope Ratzinger

"The man on the left -- the one wearing a fabulous vintage chiffon-lined Dior gold lame gown over a silk Vera Wang empire waist tulle cocktail dress, accessorized with a 3-foot beaded House of Whoville hat, and the ruby slippers Judy Garland wore in the Wizard of Oz -- is worried that The Da Vinci Code might make the Roman Catholic Church look foolish."

Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.

That is quite the get-up.

23. See the the Federico Fellini film "Roma", which features a Vatican fashion show:

It's one vignette out of many in this film, but it's hysterical - and quite cynical.
