Lack of Miracles in US due to higher education(ivy league) Pat Robertson
Today on the 700 Club, a viewer asked host Pat Robertson why miracles such as “people raised from the dead, blind eyes open, lame people walking” seem to “happen with great frequency in Africa, and not here in the USA?” Robertson first responded by joking it is “because those people overseas didn’t go to Ivy League schools.”
But Robertson was actually serious. “Well, we are so sophisticated, we think we’ve got everything figured out, we know about evolution, we know about Darwin, we know about all these things that says God isn’t real, we know about all this stuff,” Robertson lamented, “in many schools, in the most advanced schools, we have been inundated with skepticism and secularism.” Unlike these too-educated Americans, “overseas they are simple and humble” and are more ready to accept miracles. http://www.rightwingwatch.org/content/robertson-simple-foreigners-more-likely-experience-miracles-sophisticated-americans http://www.rightwingwatch.org/content/robertson-simple-foreigners-more-likely-experience-miracles-sophisticated-americans

4. When people raise from the dead ...
... or regain their eyesight or the ability to walk here, we call it adequate medical care. Thankfully, it's not such a scarce commodity here.

5. So now Pat is calling for the zombies to arise and start chowing down on our too-educated brains?
Gee, thanks, Pat. 'Preciate it.

6. He might piss-off
the other, extremely wealthy, televanges, (my word).
You are not supposed to give the game away. Life is full of unusual and unexpected events, synchronicity and things we don't know about yet. Anomalies abound. Many of them use the same techniques as cold readers and rely on insights into how people gather information and make necessary assumptions due to the fact that there is often, obviously, not enough data to be precise in a given situation. They all make a lot of money exploiting something that you can learn about in a very short time and they cloak it in religious context. By the way, I sense that many of you have had a reaction to this article that probably indicates the great degree of insight and intelligence you have. You tend to be open-minded even though you have formed some strong opinions in life that you stand by consistently and you are skeptical only when you sense the need to be. The spirits are telling me that some of you truly wish you could be more generous to people who are in need and that you should stand up to that and realize what a powerful altruism you possess -- way above average. So, send me some money and that will be that step you have been waiting to take to enrich yourself and live like the good person you know you are but were not quite certain of until now. I can see you are the kind of person who wants proof, so this is the opportunity you have been hoping for in order to go beyond thoughts and feelings and make it concrete. |
