And how they probably saved many lives... Today Rachel was talking about how Fema built safe houses next to schools which saved many lives during previous Ok. Tornados..Unfortunately Moore did not have any safe houses next to their schools when the storms hit yesterday.....
Point is.... I want to remind everyone of this iconic statement which game from one our so called by Republican Presidents in the last 30 years..
"In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem."

(1,415 posts)think they should have a safe place to stay during a tornado... We also now know we need to give private contractors control over FEMA and give them the right to charge for storm warnings!
( because someone won't figure that out...)

(13,485 posts)that the local weather reporter did a big no no that may have saved a whole lot of lives? About 20 minutes before the hit, he decided to go against the rule of thumb that says to take cover and instead made a last moment decision to tell everyone to get in their car and drive out of town.
If that had been a bad call, he would have been in deep doodoo. But I guess he was smart enough to see that the best answer was to get out of town. He was sure right this time.
Someone help me with this if you know this story. I'm just retelling it from memory.

(5,103 posts)what we were ranting about for the past days.
It all came down to greed over lives. Yet these shelters were subsidized and not really expensive.
Not very religious if you ask me. They gambled and people died as a result of their hubris.
Note that the FEMA red tape became prohibitive of late? I wonder why?
Inhofe and Coburn played their part.
