Michele ("This is your egg on drugs" Bachmann is saying: "But even more than running for President, Sean, I'm proud of the bills I wrote from the We're Packing Bill that allows conceal carry weapons on White House Tours to the Fairness for Americans Act that would make it illegal for foreigners to call us foreign when we're visiting their country. . . . It's a shame that the Democrats had to show their disdain once again for common sense by voting them down."

(4,518 posts)... the real joke (and scary part) is that you have to do a quick double-take on the joke.
"Holy crap... did she really... I never heard about that... oh, man, that's just too.... oh, wait - damn, ITS A JOKE!!!!!".

(19,490 posts)(I often use the subject's speaking patterns and pet phrases even) that there is the double take. The fact that they often seem almost real (I've had many people ask if someone "really said that?" indicates how far out there the subject is in reality.
But it makes it very hard to satirize the likes of Glenn Beck. To top his craziness, the CAPTIONer has to write something so insane that the double take will not be effective.

(19,490 posts)would have made it illegal to publish anything about Native Americans or slavery in primary and secondary school history texts. . . . I thought that was a sure-fire winner, but I suspect a couple minority caucuses teamed up to sink my bill. . . . Wouldn't you know!! . . . It's always the minorities dictating what is good for all the rest of us!!"
