My doctor has given me nearly 4200 dollars worth of free medication in 6 months

I went into him when I could no longer afford one of my medications that cost 700 dollars a month and he has been supplying me with free sample packs ever since.

I wish I could thank him publicly. But I will not name names because he would instantly become an enemy of the pharmaceutical industry.

... without sharing too much, of course

they are free sample packs so they should be put to good use and not allowed to expire or go to waste.

They give the docs samples to give out. The idea behind it is to persuade the doc into prescribing it to his patients. Drug companies make tons of money this way.

The medications go to the staff and to select patients and the drug reps hand them out like candy for the doctors and practitioners to prescribe however they see fit. The only price is a little time the drug rep gets with those who prescribe.

They disguise themselves as doctors, nurses, osteopaths but they are different. It's in the soul.

These meds may very well be life sustaining prescriptions that the OP clearly cannot afford.

There are plenty of doctors prescribing unnecessary pharmecuticals, however there are many prescriptions which are required in order to keep otherwise healthy individuals alive...

take a look at rxassist.org.

The samples are a good way to get over a bump in the road, but occasionally they run short. Get enrolled in a patient assistance program (usually free to $10 / month) to insure long term access.

that any drug cost that much money. Thats the biggest reason for our high cost of health care. IMO

After a relative of mine died, he had several drugs in unit dosage packs, individually packed. His doctor's office said they used them for indigent patients and took them. None were narcotics. Some docs are really concerned for ALL their patients! This lady doc was a jewel when my relative was sick. Everyone else I contacted, ie pharmacies, told me just to destroy them.

Why do you think they give him the drugs to give to you in the first place?

If he's giving them to you, then he's likely writing rx's of the same stuff to patients who can afford it as well, instead of writing rx for an alternate drug that is cheaper and/or generic.
