PETA launches lawsuit against anonymous bloggers
PETA US are attempting to identify three commenters on a HuffPost article titled PETAs Secret Slaughter of Kittens, Puppies.
The charity People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), a group described by Kevin Morris as the worlds most successful trolling organisation and made famous by its overt and consciously offensive publicity campaigns, has filed a civil lawsuit demanding a Manhattan court release the details of three Huffington Post bloggers who have, well, offended them.
The suit, requesting the names, phone numbers and address of the users Lucy Van Pelt, ambersommerville and Eyema Nurde be handed over to PETA, was filed after the three bloggers allegedly defamed the organisation by attacking its euthanasia policy. They were responding to an article posted on April 2nd by the director of the No Kill Advocacy Centre, Nathan J. Winograd, titled Shocking Photos: PETAs Secret Slaughter of Kittens, Puppies.
PETA have not filed a case against Winograd, however, and it seems, incredibly, that the organisation does not deny the allegations of the article
per se, only their subjective interpretation PETA have taken particular issue with ambersommervilles description of the charity as animal Kevorkians, a turn of phrase that likens the charity to the historical Dr Death.
