Steven Seagal Somehow Fails To Find Boston Bombing Clues In Russia

Steven Seagal is apparently an international man of mystery with a deep and abiding friendship with Russian president Vladimir Putin that rivals the sickeningly sweet bromance between Kim Jong Un and Dennis Rodman himself. But it still wasn’t enough to help him find any meaningful clues to the Boston Bombing for a six-member US Congressional delegation currently in Russia.

The Washington Post reported that Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) spoke at a news conference at the US Embassy in Moscow, with Steven Seagal in attendance. Rohrabacher summed up the results of multiple conferences, including separate meetings with Vladimir Putin and Chechnyan strongman Ramzan Kadyrov.

As Todd Rigney reported earlier, Seagal had made plans to accompany Rohrabacher into Chechnya — and he even attempted to arrange for Putin to come along. However, Rohrabacher explained that the delegation couldn’t accept that invitation because of House rules about accepting expensive gifts — including the flights on Seagal’s private jet.

At Sunday’s press conference, Rorhabacher also acknowledged that the delegation actually uncovered few, if any, clues to the Boston bombing in Russia. However, the representative said that the trip was productive anyway because it underlined the need for Russia and the United States to work together to fight a common enemy.

“Radical Islam is at our throat in the United States, and is at the throat of the Russian people,” Rorhabacher said.

He thanked Seagal several times for his help, although it wasn’t entirely clear what the action star had contributed to the investigation of the Boston bombing case other than setting up some meetings that ultimately didn’t lead to any new information.

Another washed up action-film actor with nothing to do.

Seriously, did he think his "star power" would get a bunch of people to talk even if they knew something???

The congressman repeatedly thanked Seagal, who took credit for arranging the congressmen’s meeting at the FSB, and said it helped avoid the experience of past foreign trips when all of the meetings had been arranged by the U.S. Embassy.

“You know what we got? We got the State Department controlling all the information that we heard,” Rohrabacher said. “You think that’s good for democracy? No way!”

Oh yes, so much better to have a self-important stuntman organise be your liaison with a foreign government. That's much better for democracy. I mean, we do elect all our stuntmen, don't we?

Interesting that Rep. Cohen says Rep. King was lying:

Rep. Steve King said Russian security officials told the delegation they believed that Tsarnaev and his mother had been radicalized before moving to the United States in 2003. “I suspect he was raised to do what he did,” said King, a Republican from Iowa.

His account of the meeting at the FSB, the successor to the Soviet-era KGB, was disputed by Rep. Steven Cohen, a Tennessee Democrat, who said he understood that the radicalization took place much later, when the family was living in Boston.

I suppose you might justify going on this ridiculous show-trip just to stop the Republicans from lying about what was said.

And when I say 'have jumped the shark', I don't necessarily mean "have only just jumped the shark". After all, Bachmann was on the trip too.
