For most.

Children:

Take some time and learn a trade or skill, take some college courses, learn what your shit high school didn't teach you about the real world.

Get a job, discover your gift and passion, and then pursue whatever path will most enlighten you.

It might be college, but it might not.

(from a 5-year program grad who took four years off after high school)
