oh, good lord! Mika acting like little Miss Priss in a "discussion" on Michael Douglas today

on Morning Joe! But so was Joe the Jerk, so it is par for the course. But today was even beyond their usual utterly stupid. Joe was playing the part of Dirty Old Man and Mika the schoolmarm (she even smacked him at one point). That stuff is so old it is embarrassing.

I have emailed them that they need to act a little more grown up about how deadly STD's can be contracted. This is a public health issue and needs to be part of sex ed for our kids and our awareness as adults. Mika even tried to shut off the discussion when she said "Shh, children are watching!"

One would think they could discuss a public health issue like mature adults.

A perfect pretext for a sermon about "protection" and the virtues of monogamy or at least avoiding too much diversity in ones sex life; which I would think real "conservatives" would make good use of insead of throwing away on feeble attempts at humor.

Mr. Douglas, at least, seems to get that.

more savvy. At least Thomas Roberts, who is gay, was more mature and normal. He made a mildly funny reference to the fact that this would not be his problem ("trust me&quot . He didn't smirk or act all freaked out like Mika. I wonder what in the world she tells her daughters about sex...well, on second thought, maybe I don't want to know...

Too old, too staid, too republican.

MJ is getting really stupid, instead of just intermittently stupid...

I do like it when Howard Dean is on and he often is. MJ is about the only place I see him any more and I like his commentary on things...

So it goes. I mute and unmute until Dr. Dean comes on and then all is well. He's really good on MJ, always butting up against Joe.

Thankfully, I turned off the TV after the local news, as I have zero desire to watch The Today Show, and sometimes will switch to Mourning Joe, but usually only for a few minutes (long enough for Joe to tell us about his days in Congress, or for Mika to squirm in her chair, fold her hands and purse her lips as if she's not capable of refuting what's being said).

I think this issue should be dealt with honestly, factually, and without the "this is so dirty" attitude that so many have. Knowledge is power.

Mika and Joe Scarborough. It's your typical corny morning show that kills your brain cells, so I wouldn't expect any real, meaningful discussion.
