After Marine Sgt. Brandon Morgan's passionate liplock with boyfriend Dalan Wells made them the Internet's most famous gay couple last year, we hadn't heard much for a while. Now, Morgan has proposed to his man (and tried to record it on camera). Although the image and sound quality aren't great, Morgan, on bended knee, says, "With the repeal of DOMA or not, will you do me the honor of spending your life with me?" And he says yes (of course). 1. Almost two years ago I did the same

in a restaurant the night that the NY legislature voted in favor of marriage equality.
In our case, a number of people at the other tables stood and clapped. Happy tears roll down my face every time I recall that sweet moment.

5. Can I just say I long for the day when gay people proposing to each other

isn't a headline in GD? Because people get engaged all the time. It really shouldn't be newsworthy just because their private parts match. Geesh.

But a girl can dream, can't she? Just as I dream of a day when we can have a mixed race paraplegic lesbian as president and no one will say shit about it, except to comment on her politics. That's when we'll know the human race has really advanced out of the primordial swamp our single-celled ancestors came from. I'm sure I won't live to see that level of acceptance pervasive throughout society, but it's what I strive for. And certainly what stories like you OP are about, taking incremental steps toward that dream of mine. I hope you didn't take my post as in any way trying to diminish the significance of this event now, in our current society. I very much appreciate all your posts.
