Mine are approaching a very huge number (I'll let your imagination answer that one). I have another 19 months before I finish my doctorate so my loans will go up on 7/1. I hope they come up with a fix so they can have a chance to figure out how to get a long term solution.

if just one national bank stepped up and offered student loans at say 3% (needing parental cosignatures like I'm having to do for my kids - scary) they would completely monopolize the market and still make money given they get their money for 0.75%. That of course doesn't help the inflated tuition costs (universal health coverage would as education is one of the few remaining "industries" that offers full benefits and their insurance costs would drop dramatically if we all paid in to a national non-profit policy).
