I have a Jetta TDI so I use diesel which was actually about $.20 cheaper when I filled up last week.

show that gas can be obtained for as low as $3.87/gal in the Detroit area, but as high as $4.49/gal at other stations. IMO that's enough incentive to travel a few miles for the lower price.

9. Progressive radio from Chi. said prices were high because refineries were coming OUT of maintenance

Didn't make sense to me...I'd have thought coming back on line would drop the price.

I'm not sure, but I think much of SE Wi gets hit with a bit higher costs due to use of mandated 'special seasonal blends' that are supposed to be less polluting...maybe it's similar for gas sold in the Detroit metro.

If I were more conspiracy-minded, I'd say that Big Oil manipulates refinery output to keep prices high. One of these days, I may just leave my car along the side of the road where it runs out of fuel and start traveling by shank's mare.

Which means it is probably $3.43 on the Missouri side (they are always 20 cents cheaper).

What I hate is there's an Exxon, I think, that lists low gas prices but when you get to the pump they have small signs stating those prices are for cash only.

The racetrack gas stating down the street is 3:23 a gallon... 10 miles away a Racetrack is 3:45.

It's that way with all the gas stations. It's like the wild west of gas pricing.
