But you can turn off the kinect: http://kotaku.com/xbox-ones-kinect-can-turn-off-microsoft-says-noting-510100564
I kind of agree with some of the commenters that the infographic was from Sony doing some covert ops. At least, I can see that as being more true than the graphic itself.
But I'M not gonna buy an xbox 1 because of the used game situation. Fuck them greedy twits.

(2,979 posts)I was using an ancient dell laptop for years.
It just became to slow for the game I play.
Now, I've got a relatively "new" gaming pc with a 24" monitor.
DDO is like an entirely new game to me now, lol.

(23,156 posts)only a very sweet and lovable dumb phone. No camera hooked up to my computer, either. I have a Facebook account but almost never post anything to it. No Twitter, no texting for me. Even with those limits on my use of technology, it's astonishing what is out there about me.
Recently I was needing to get a new birth certificate (the old one, I'd gotten about forty years ago has long since disappeared) and it was easier, if a bit pricier, to use an on-line service that to round up everything needed by the state I was born in. I had to answer a series of questions, like: Which of these five is NOT an address you lived at. And sure enough, four of the five were street addresses I'd had in recent years.
Granted, I'm the only person in this country with my particular first and last name, but still. It does have me wondering how well that series of questions works for someone with a more common name, or who has moved less frequently.

(12,132 posts)You've been able to look up public records since forever - online has just made that easier. I googled my name because of that 4 questions thread and I was shocked at how many hits there were that had info about me and most of my family.
But I'm not worried about M$ watching me in my living room. I imagine I would be wayyyyyyyy way wayyyyyy down the list of people to surreptitiously watch in their underpants.
And I can't go places away from home without something with which to fling angry birds at pigs.

(6,234 posts)It CANNOT be turned off while the system is functioning. What they are saying -- as if this is a huge revelation -- is that a user can pull the freaking plug. I will go one better, don't buy it = problem solved.
For those who do not know what it's doing this is a horror show.

(12,132 posts)Until then everything we know is so much speculation. I don't discount the notion that there are worrisome aspects of the new console - I'm just not ready to go into Skynet paranoia land.
I doubt I'll get one if it turns out they really won't allow used games and I already don't like the lack of backwards compatibility. By the time it actually is released I'll be about ready to build a good gaming PC ...
How well do PC games scale up to big TV's on HDMI? (43" and up)

(5,937 posts)I have taken notice and it could effect my decision to puchase a PS4 or Xbox. So far from what I am hearing I am not too keen on the new Xbox.
