My cousin posted this on his timeline. Now, he has posted anti-Obama crap before but this is an outright LIE. Do I bother pointing it out or as I normally do ignore my Facebook for a few months?

(19,459 posts)I have a couple friends on FB that consistently post the kind of patently false garbage regarding President Obama, Democrats, liberals, etc., that the OP is bemoaning.
I think the thing that troubles me most about it is their unwillingness to acknowledge their error when pointed out (publicly, at least). Anything I post to counter/disprove their assertions is almost always met in one of two ways:
1. Total silence
2. Some strawman argument that usually ends with a multitude I've never met chiming in from all over the FB world in order to support said strawman, and introduce several more.
It isn't just their hatred for anyone and anything related to Democrats or Progressives (my friends have never responded hatefully toward me, but the crowd that follows often does). It's the fact that they seem unwilling/unable to ground their beliefs in anything reality-based, and get so offended when a it's pointed out to them.
I'm saving the photo and link you provided for use when this (inevitably) appears on my news feed.

(12,287 posts)I'm always asking for proof or just telling my rightwing nut acquantances that the post is just stupid. Surprisingly, they will admit it's stupid or can't find proof. I doubt most wing nuts are like this, but they are kinda all over the board politically, so I just figure they're kinda dumb.

2. Use the socialfixer facebook app
You can mark posts as read, hide posts, etc. But it doesn't work with internet explorer... only works with google chrome, firefox, etc.

(20,226 posts)of crazy right-wing crap shows up on my Facebook newsfeed page. Personally what I do is that I try to post two left-wing or anti-Republican post - for every one right-wing nutter post I see. Rather than respond to their nonsense - I try to bait them to respond to my stuff.
Here are three great Facebook resources - there are actually a lot more. If you click "like on these pages - their stuff will start showing up on your newsfeed - you can post it on your wall and have it showing up on your Facebook friends' newsfeeds - simply by clicking share.

(27,436 posts)Reading the pig ignorant comments to that BS post just reinforces my already low opinion of right wingers.
A couple of people jumped in with snopes debunking and I "liked" those comments. Not that it matters much. The haters don't care about truth or reality.
