But of course our government would never do that, that would be wrong.

(after the fact being proven of course), "Well what did you expect? Of course they did. They spied on EVERYBODY, why should Occupy be any different?" The apologists for the PTBs are always SO predictable. This is how it comes down:

They'll deny it happened for as long as they can and ridicule anybody who makes the assertion/prediction. Then when it's proven beyond a doubt, the above excuses will be trotted out. Like I said, predictable as sunrise in the east.

Why isn't the public massing in droves to protest? Maybe because most of us realize that legal warrants and regular review are done to assess the appropriateness of the program.

Outside the DU bubble -and other forums, I'm sure- most people don't care. It's the Internet Age, like it or not.

Since they often get tagged as 'terrorists' for non-violent protests. I expect opposition to Keystone XL would be counted as 'international terror-related activity' by someone in the NSA.

I tend to post stories like this (that I would only find on DU) on my Facebook page, where I made a point of friending hundreds of scenesters in Baltimore just so I could expose them to some outside thought.
It is maddening to me how everyone went nuts over Cispa and for marriage equality (both great causes), while utterly and completely ignoring all other causes regarding civil liberties. It is truly lost on me how this sort of thing (NSA, etc) is so different. My honest thought is that the popular kids haven't picked it up so it's a non issue. When I would post stories of the pet issues, because of my daily reading of DU I would be the first to put the stories out. People would comment, repost, debate, care. With everything else that they haven't been told to care about, crickets chirping. I've noticed that people there are avoiding me now like a leper, even when I post art or photos. sad sad sad.
