I am sick and tired of

Republicans who supported the Patriot Act all of a sudden being bent out of shape over Obama using the Patriot Act.

I am opposed to the Patriot Act, as I ALWAYS WAS. Repeal the damn Patriot Act! I'd be very happy!

But don't blame Obama for the Patriot Act. And if you supported the Patriot Act when Bush created it, then shut the hell up now.

I'm talking about people who supported it under Bush but are acting like it's a brand new thing never done before, created by Obama, who wants to be the next Hitler.

No.

The Patriot Act should never have been passed. It should be repealed. But Obama isn't the one who created it.

"illustrious" media who gave bush a free pass, but now act as those this is something new

Of course the real reason in the media's case is because they did not do their job during the bush years, and they do not want to revisit that

that republicans are bent out of shape over this. I'm hearing many speak out in support of what the president is doing. Karl Rove is speaking out in support. That in and of itself should show how wrong the president is on this issue.

They support their Republican congressmen who voted for and supported the Patriot Act, but think Obama should be impeached for using the Patriot Act.

I mean duh, if it's there it's going to be used, by whatever president is in office. Did they think it would only apply to Republican presidents? This is why these kinds of acts should never be written or approved. You aren't just giving additional power to the president you support. You're giving them to every president from that point on.

wants to change the Patriot Act so that it can't be used "as broadly" aka to make sure he and his corporate masters can't be spied on

If not, then re-read my post and see I wasn't talking about you.

Most Democrats have been opposed to the Patriot Act since it was passed. And it's involved spying since it was passed.

But to have supported it under Bush and suddenly be shocked, truly shocked that they're spying going on, when Bush was spying too and they supported it then, drives me crazy.

Most Democrats in the Senate have supported the Patriot Act every time it has come up for a vote, including Senator Obama.

You know he voted for reauthorizing the Patriot Act when he was Senator, and has signed two reauthorizations of it as president. He even went as far as using auto-pen to sign it the second time because he didn't want to go without it for even a day. At what point does he get the blame? He voted for it as Senator, signed it as President, and uses all the powers it contains. He deserves a hell of a lot of blame.

but Republicans who loved the Patriot Act when Bush was using it to spy are in no position to complain about Obama spying.

I don't like the act, never did, and think it should be rescinded or whatever you do with laws that never should have been passed. But no, I don't blame him for continuing to use a law that was being used before he was elected and most people in Congress seem to want to continue. If we want that law gone, we're the ones who will have to put up a fuss. Presidents don't give away their powers on their own - no president of any party. People have to take back the power.
