Privacy issues and complaints

I just wanted to point out the obvious. The first time you applied for you social security number, particularly after it became mandatory, you lost your privacy. The first time you used a debit card to purchase something, your information was out there. The first time you logged onto the Internet, say through AOL, you lost your privacy. Have a phone or car that has GPS? Loss of privacy.

We have the illusion of privacy in the United States but we've never really had privacy. I imagine as years go on, it will become worse. Marketing companies have been using our "private" purchase histories to tailor ads for us on web sites. If you have ad block on your browser you may not be aware of this but it's true. If I search Google or Amazon for a particular product, the next web sites I go to that have advertising, have those products I searched for in their ads.

If you ride public transportation and have a card of some sort you fill up, it most likely has an RDIF chip in it. Loss of privacy. You go into a store that has cameras, loss of privacy. This is so shocking because it's less subtle, I suppose.

I'm not in favor of being tracked but it's been happening for a while now. I'm sure if you think about it, you can list your own ideas of things we've been doing that compromises our privacy.
