Radio and television personality Geraldo Rivera said Friday that he would not seek New Jersey's Senate seat in a special election to replace the late Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.), despite earlier suggestions he might run.
In a Fox News Latino column, Rivera compares running against Newark Mayor Cory Booker to a battle in The Lord of the Rings books, saying the race would be as one-sided as Théoden faced when leading his riders against Mordor.
In the book, Théoden is overwhelmed by a massive enemy army but Rivera says he finds solace in the fable.
"Because of his sacrifice, the good guys ultimately win, Rivera said.
