Never mind the the history of the NSA and CIA.
We're free and the greatest country in the history of the world.

(2,770 posts)Go back to rending your garments, and gnashing your teeth.
Go back to acting and reacting to what the MSM tells you to be outraged about.
Never mind that you didn't trust them yesterday, nor will you trust them tomorrow. Tonight's the night - to swallow what they're spewing. Whole.
Embrace being melodramatic. It plays well on message boards.
Keep whining - loudly and clearly. Hold your breath until you turn blue - or until the next thing to be outraged about is announced.
Never mind reality - really, don't. Reality can really fuck with your persecution complex.
Try to grab a few minutes of sleep, when and where you can. But be ever watchful for a signal from the Hair-On-Fire Brigade - you never know when you'll be called upon to stand up and drop your jaw for 'the cause'.
"We're all DOOMED!" posts at-the-ready, citizens! THIS could be the Big One!!!

Only the astute posters on DU who are 'in the know' can be trusted now.
The minute Obama took the unprecedented step of declaring May 1st "Loyalty Day", I knew he was up to no good.

(18,998 posts)But the the May first was not what did it for me...it was the attack on the social safety net...the chained CPI....that coming right after he no longer needed our vote...that speaks volumes in my opinion.
Nope, some of us are tired of getting fooled over and over and this last thing was a wake up call....to bad you want to sleep through it.

(39,278 posts)We have a finite number of healthy days on this earth. Many of us feel that walking around in a permanent state of agitation should be reserved for something far more tangible than Verizongate or whatever we're calling this.

Excellent synopsis!
We don't need to worry our beautiful minds (to the tune of Bobby McFarin's "Don't Worry, Be Happy."

(4,906 posts)here at du. I read in one of these posts that Greenwald appeared 'unhinged' during an interview yesterday. I'm sorry but the man has a mind like a computer and a clear understanding of the law and the constitution and unhinged is more than a stretch. While I don't think this is necessarily about the Verizon data mining, I do think he is one of the very few and at this point in time, perhaps the only, journalist, author, lecturer, scholar who can challenge the administration on their rampant and cavalier dismantling of our civil rights and liberties. If someone is on a message board dedicated to democratic values and principles, they at least need to get that ...or bother to educate themselves at least a little.

(5,937 posts)It's just like Al Gore coming out against this, it's the old "I didn't like him anyway" deflection, people like that are delusional and in constant denial.

(26,549 posts)And it's not the NSA program they're trying to cover up. There's other things going on in DC. For example, I'm rather dismayed that the Senate will be voting for cuts to food stamps on Monday night. All of the Democrats voted for cloture Thursday.
But people on DU are too busy suddenly freaking out over an 8+ year old program to trouble their senators about that vote.
