you don't yell for help, and then shoot one second later. If you had that ability to protect yourself, why would you yell for help? Especially is such desperation. Nope.

(2,166 posts)And I think if you're aiming your gun at an unarmed a teen ager, even if he did get some punches in, you wouldn't be screaming in desperation. I sincerely hope voice experts will be able to rule out that it was Zimmerman. That will be key.

(1,954 posts)I've had a guy take a lunge at me at work, and even though I knew I -could- lay my attacker low, I still called "Security! Help!" first. When it became clear that I was on my own, I acted to defend myself (No, it was unarmed combat, not shooting, but the principle remains.)
Firstly, it's about communication of the need for aid, regardless of perceived power. Secondly, one may not always want to -use- their power, especially in the case of a gun. Finally, you might just call out for help just to cover your own ass.
I have no dog in this fight, I hope Zimmerman gets the slammer for as long as possible. Just answering your questions with personal experience.

(2,166 posts)On the audio, you hear the cry for help and ONE second later you hear the shot.
If it was a communication of someone in need of aid by someone having the upper hand in the fight, then the cry for help wouldn't have been so desperate, and there wouldn't have been a shot fired so soon after calling for help. The cry was more of a person pleading for his life.
