Pundits Upset Over Nothing: Google Didn't Ban Glass at Shareholder Meeting

For those itching to pounce on Google for privacy concerns, there are two big holes in the presumably juicy story: First up, Google didn't actually ban Glass at all.

"A Google representative reached out to BGR to inform us that not only was Glass not explicitly banned from the shareholder meeting, but a number of attendees were actually wearing the device," wrote Boy Genius Report's Dan Graziano.

Second, there's little that's strange about Google's initial proclamation. A quick Web search regarding recording devices at shareholder meetings turns up a number of instances where companies have prohibited recording equipment and other electronic devices at said gatherings. Google itself has had the same rule in place for hte past six years.

In fact, we'd almost go so far as to argue that Google might be a bit more lax than most given its apparent thumbs-up to Google Glass at its own shareholder meeting. We somehow suspect those wearing the company's headset into, say, Yahoo's shareholder meeting later this month wouldn't be given quite so friendly of a welcome.
