This country would be a disaster without the Bill of Rights

Back in 1789, there was a debate on whether we needed the Bill of Rights. I think everyone, conservative and liberal, can agree that they were definitely needed. In fact, they probably didnt go far enough. If the founders decided not to include these amendments, we would have descended into tyranny a long time ago.

Unfortunately though our federal government despises them with a passion. And they have systematically watered them down with relentless attacks upon them the last 200 years. Our judiciary has failed to protect them. Big Brother seems to win 9 out of 10 court challenges. The trend in this country seems to be continued erosion of our civil liberties and the destruction of everything this country stands upon in the name of national security.

America is increasingly becoming a police and surveillance state. Maybe we need to consider how much longer we include "land of the free" in the national anthem since that phrase is sounding more like a lie with each passing day.
