Feds to drop appeals over morning-after pill
...
The judge later ridiculed the FDA changes, saying they established "nonsensical rules" that favored sales of the Plan B One-Step morning-after pill and were made "to sugarcoat" the government's appeal.
"He cited studies showing that blacks with low incomes are less likely than other people to have government-issued IDs."

And I couldn't help but think.... voter ID laws.
Right now I am in a tough place myself. My old CA driver license is expired and to get a new one from Ohio have to pay for and pass the test here (which I did way back in the day) and have things like my birth certificate/etc (which I don't have and have to buy) plus pay for the license - oh, and a car would help too (which would mean insurance and gas/etc).
Even if it was just a state ID I need things I don't have and a way to drive all the way across town to get it - and when you are on short term disability and they are not paying you....well having money for such things is not a need. (was going back to work but had bad reaction to latest meds, dr released me for a few weeks then put me back on off time.....)
What some (on the right) don't get is it is not the income but the percent of your income that is killing people when it comes to money - example, get a $100 ticket and you only make minimum wage that is a much larger chunk of your income than if you make 50k/year. Same with rent, food, etc....
Basically, just getting ID's for many people is a higher cost, even though the price is the same for everyone, for people making less. (Yeah, I know some say they could issue free ID's - free if you have a ride to get them, have the documents already and don't have to order them, etc).
There are times when I was doing well in my life and it was easy to overlook such 'little' things, times (like now and the last few years) when I am not doing so well and those little things become huge because any check you get is gone before you get it and still not enough.
And people like me vote for dems - so again, I can see why republicans like to push for things because they can't win based on their ideals.
