What business is it of the government

who I call, when I call and for how long? Can someone please explain that? Did I do something wrong that the government needs to know? If so, why not a warrant on me specifically instead of a dragnet of surveillance?

I also keep hearing that this is a Republican smear job. From what I've heard so far is that the Republicans are down with this spying. The only one that I have heard that doesn't like it is Rand Paul, the lunatic Senator from Kentucky. Maybe there are others but I haven't heard about it yet.

But I do know that the author of the torture memos John Yoo thinks it's pretty cool and that is disturbing.

I can't think of one. What the hell did I do to deserve this?

For all the worshipers out there who insist this is all OK, go ahead and send me copies of all of your email, chat logs, skypes and phone bills, etc. Furthermore, let me install a keylogger and monitor on all of your devices that report back to me.

Of course, you'll say "why should I send it to you? It's none of your business."

Precisely. It's nobody's business except your own. That's why one calls it their "private life."

On the other hand, you may say "I don't know you. How can I trust you?"

Of course, that's silly because the same attributes can be ascribed to the government agents who will sift through it.

But, fine. Let's go one step further. Pick one person to whom you will grant such access. Who will it be? Anyone?

...but they might be in the future. And that's why they need your data. If you ever get on a list for whatever reason, they already know everything about you. And possibly how to take you down if they need to.

How? Seriously, how is this a "department of pre-crime"? What is your understanding of what is happening with phone logs here, because it sure seems different from mine.

Also, you and I seem to have different understandings of what information they can use without a warrant.

As for "what information they can use without a warrant," how does anyone know? It's all a "secret," don't you know. These are "secret laws and the creative "interpretations" of these "secret laws" are also a "secret." This is Soviet-era nonsense that has no place in this country.

I don't understand what business it is of the government who, when and for how long I am calling someone.
